A collection of ten antique and early 20th century wooden boxes comprising rosewood, walnut and ebonised examples, including two carved and inlaid rectangular boxes, several plain hinged jewellery and document boxes, a black japanned cash or deed box with swing handle, and multiple velvet and paper-lined interiors, some with fitted compartments. Various constructions and finishes, late 19th to early 20th century.
Condition: All in well-used, age-worn condition with surface scratches, knocks and staining throughout; several boxes with missing or replaced escutcheons, worn corners and edge losses; interiors with faded, torn or lifting linings, one with split paper lining, and general hinge wear.
